What is Aprehend bed bug treatment?

Aprehend bed bug treatment is an EPA-registered bed bug product (EPA Reg. No. 73079-15) that a licensed technician applies where bed bugs travel, so bugs that cross the treated areas pick it up; the label says it kills bed bugs within 7 days and gives up to 3 months of control. Silver Bullet Pest Control offers Aprehend in North Jersey, on its own or together with bed bug heat treatment, depending on the home. It starts with an inspection to confirm bed bugs and map where they hide. Call or text 973-510-2585 for a free quote.

What Aprehend is and how it works on bed bugs

Aprehend is a professional bed bug treatment registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under EPA Reg. No. 73079-15. Instead of trying to spray every single bug, the technician applies it in the places bed bugs walk: along bed frames, headboards, furniture legs and the routes between where they hide and where people sleep or sit.

Bed bugs leave their hiding spots to feed, usually at night. As they cross a treated area, they pick up the product. According to the label, exposed bed bugs die within 7 days, and a treatment can keep working for up to 3 months. That lasting effect is what makes it useful for bugs hiding in places a spray or a heat treatment might not reach, and for bed bugs that hatch from eggs after the visit.

It isn't magic, and it isn't a one-step fix on its own. It works best with a careful inspection, the right placement and good prep. Our technicians follow the product label exactly; your technician will explain what is being applied, where, and why.

When Aprehend is a good fit (and when another method is better)

After the inspection we recommend the method that fits the home. Here's how that decision usually goes:

Bed bug on a bed sheet
Good fit

Early or moderate infestations

  • Bugs found in one or two rooms
  • Clear travel paths around the bed
  • You want treatment that keeps working

When bed bugs are caught early and mostly in the bedroom, Aprehend placed along the bed and nearby furniture can handle the bugs you see and the ones that hatch later, without moving everything out of the room.

Combine

Heavy or spread-out activity

  • Bugs in many rooms or furniture
  • Lots of clutter or upholstered pieces
  • Repeat problem after DIY attempts

For a bigger infestation, heat can knock down large numbers of bed bugs in one visit, and Aprehend can be added to keep working on survivors and new hatchlings. Combining methods is common in tougher jobs.

Check first

Is it really bed bugs?

  • Bites alone don't prove it
  • Bat bugs look almost the same
  • Carpet beetles cause look-alike rashes

No treatment works if it's the wrong pest. We confirm bed bugs before recommending anything. If we find bat bugs, the bats need to be excluded first.

How an Aprehend bed bug treatment visit works

1

Inspection and confirmation

A licensed technician checks mattresses, box springs, bed frames, headboards, nightstands, couches and baseboards, confirms it's bed bugs and maps where they're hiding and traveling.

2

A clear prep list

We give you a prep list written for your home, in English or Spanish, so treated areas stay effective and nothing important gets missed.

3

Treatment

The technician applies Aprehend along bed frames, furniture and the travel routes bed bugs use, following the label. Where needed, other methods such as heat are used too.

4

Instructions for afterward

You'll get specific instructions on when you can go back in, what to leave alone and how to clean. Treated bands should not be scrubbed or vacuumed away unless your technician says so.

5

Follow-up

We return to check results, look for any remaining activity and decide whether anything else is needed.

Keep sleeping in your own bed after treatment. Bed bugs come out looking for you, and that brings them across the treated areas. Moving to the couch spreads them to new places.

How to prepare for Aprehend bed bug treatment

Good prep makes any bed bug treatment work better. Your technician's list comes first, but most homes will be asked to:

  1. Wash and dry bedding, curtains and clothes from the affected rooms on high heat, then store them in sealed bags until after the treatment.
  2. Clear the floor around the bed and along the walls so the technician can reach the bed frame, baseboards and furniture.
  3. Pull the bed a few inches from the wall and keep blankets from touching the floor.
  4. Don't move belongings to other rooms or to a friend's home; bed bugs travel with them.
  5. Don't throw out the mattress before we see it. Many can be treated and then covered with a bed bug encasement.
  6. Tell us about pets, fish tanks, babies and health conditions when you book, so the plan accounts for them.

The full list is in our bed bug treatment prep checklist.

After treatment: what's normal and what to watch

⏳

Some bugs for a few days

Seeing a few live bed bugs in the days after treatment is normal. The label says exposed bugs die within 7 days, so they don't drop instantly.

🧽

Clean carefully

Regular cleaning is fine, but don't scrub, mop or vacuum away treated bands along bed frames and baseboards unless your technician tells you to.

πŸ›οΈ

Stay in your bed

Sleeping in the treated bedroom draws bed bugs across the treated areas. Moving to another room can spread them.

πŸ“Έ

Keep notes

Write down where and when you see bugs or new bites and text photos. That helps us at the follow-up.

Bites can keep itching for days after the bugs are gone, so new itching isn't always new bites. If you see fresh live bugs after a couple of weeks, call or text 973-510-2585.

Aprehend in apartments and multi-family buildings

Much of North Jersey lives in two-family houses, garden apartments and older multi-unit buildings. Bed bugs move between units along pipes, outlets, shared walls and hallways, and on furniture and laundry. That's why we look beyond the one unit that called.

  • Inspect the units around the reported one when possible: above, below and on each side.
  • Set a follow-up schedule that matches the building, not just one apartment.
  • Work with management and tenants on prep, so one unprepared unit doesn't undo the work.
  • Keep records of each visit for the owner or property manager.

Landlords and managers can start with our bed bugs in apartments page and the landlord and tenant pest control guide. Who pays for treatment depends on the lease and the situation; rules can change and differ by town and building type, so check with your town's code enforcement or the NJ Department of Community Affairs.

Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment Questions

How long does Aprehend take to kill bed bugs?

According to the product label, bed bugs that contact Aprehend die within 7 days. That means you may still see a few live bugs in the first days after treatment. That's normal and not a sign the treatment failed.

How long does Aprehend last?

The label says Aprehend provides up to 3 months of control. That lasting effect helps catch bed bugs that were hiding during the visit and those that hatch from eggs afterward, as long as the treated areas aren't cleaned away.

Is Aprehend registered with the EPA?

Yes. Aprehend is registered with the U.S. EPA under EPA Reg. No. 73079-15. Our licensed technicians apply it following the label directions.

Is Aprehend better than heat treatment?

Neither is better in every case. Heat can clear a lot of bed bugs in one visit but has no lasting effect, while Aprehend keeps working for up to 3 months per the label. For heavier infestations we often combine them; after inspecting we'll recommend what fits your home.

Do I have to leave my home during Aprehend treatment?

Your technician will tell you when people and pets need to be out of the treated rooms and when it's fine to return, based on the label and your household. Mention babies, pregnancy, pets, fish tanks and health conditions when you book.

Can I vacuum after Aprehend treatment?

Regular cleaning is fine in most of the room, but don't vacuum, mop or scrub the treated bands along bed frames, furniture and baseboards unless your technician tells you to. Removing them reduces how long the treatment keeps working.

Will I need more than one visit?

We always plan a follow-up to check results. Some homes need nothing more; larger infestations or apartment buildings with several units involved may need additional treatment.

Can I buy Aprehend and do it myself?

Bed bug treatment works best when a licensed technician finds every hiding spot and places the product correctly. DIY sprays and foggers often scatter bed bugs into new rooms or the apartment next door. Call us before trying anything.

How much does Aprehend bed bug treatment cost?

It depends on the number of rooms, how long the bed bugs have been there, clutter and furniture, and whether heat is added or neighboring units are involved. We give a free quote after the inspection.

Do you offer Aprehend in my town?
