Animal Proofing & Wildlife Exclusion in New Jersey

Animal proofing (also called wildlife exclusion) means finding every opening an animal can use to get into your home and sealing it with materials they can’t chew or tear through. It’s the permanent fix — removing an animal without sealing the house just makes room for the next one.

Watch: wildlife removal & proofing

One inspection covers every animal. Squirrels, raccoons, bats, birds, mice and rats often use the same openings. Call 973-510-2585.

How it works

  1. Inspect: We check the whole roofline, vents, soffits, chimney and attic, find every opening — not just the one the animal is using — and look for babies.
  2. Exclude: One-way doors go on the active holes so the animals leave on their own and can’t get back in.
  3. Seal: Every other gap is closed with heavy-gauge galvanized steel mesh and metal flashing animals can’t chew through.
  4. Confirm and close: Once the animals are out we remove the doors, seal those holes and check the attic.
  5. Repair: Chewed soffits, fascia, vents and roof returns are repaired, and damaged insulation can be cleaned up.

Materials that last

Squirrels chew through plastic, foam and thin aluminum in days. We use galvanized steel hardware cloth, steel flashing and stainless steel caps, fastened to solid wood — and we paint or match where it shows, so the house still looks right.

Tip: Trim tree limbs back several feet from the roof. Branches are the main highway squirrels and raccoons use to reach the roofline. More in our prevention tips.

Wildlife Exclusion — FAQ

What is wildlife exclusion?

Getting animals out with one-way doors instead of traps, then sealing every opening so they can’t get back in. It fixes the cause instead of the symptom.

Is exclusion humane?

Yes. Animals leave on their own through one-way doors. We check for babies before sealing so none are trapped inside.

Do you seal the whole house or just the hole?

The whole house. Animals that lose one entry quickly find another, so we inspect and seal every vulnerable spot.

Will the sealing be visible?

We use materials sized and finished to blend in, and we paint or match where needed.
