Why North Bergen Buildings Get Pests
North Bergen is one of the most densely built towns in Hudson County: two- and three-family houses, attached homes, older walk-up apartments and high-rises along the Palisades. When buildings share walls, plumbing lines and basements, roaches, bed bugs and mice move easily from one unit to the next — so treating one apartment alone often isn't enough.
Busy commercial streets like Bergenline Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard are lined with restaurants, bakeries and groceries, and the Tonnelle Avenue corridor has warehouses and food distribution. Food, trash and deliveries support rats and roaches. On the west side, the Meadowlands marshes bring mosquitoes in summer, and the trees around Braddock Park bring squirrels and carpenter ants to nearby homes.

Roaches & Bed Bugs in Apartments
- Roaches in the kitchen or bathroom, even in daytime
- Small blood spots or dark stains on sheets and mattress seams
- Bites in rows or clusters after sleeping
Both spread through shared walls and plumbing. We treat the affected unit and check the units around it, and work with landlords on whole-building plans.

Rats & Mice
- Droppings under sinks, in cabinets or along walls
- Gnawing or scratching sounds at night
- Rat burrows near trash areas, sidewalks or foundations
Mice slip through gaps the size of a dime. We trap and treat, then seal the openings at pipes, doors and foundations so new rodents can't follow.

Ants & Carpenter Ants
- Trails along baseboards, counters or windows
- Winged ants indoors in spring
- Sawdust-like material near damp wood
Pavement ants come up through sidewalk and slab cracks, and carpenter ants nest in damp wood. We identify the species and use baits that kill the colony, not just the trail.
